Aim:
An afternoon Course that covers the following areas:
  • Law and  Offenses against the Person
  • What constitutes Restraint – Types
  • Typical approaches utilized in Nursing Home Care – Places of bed rails/ waist bands & Rearward Tilt Chairs
  • The obligations as set out by HIQA in Standard 21 – what can staff do to meet HIQA 21?

Implications for practice are explored with RN’s and HCA and also the consequences e.g. Challenging Behavior Triggers

Objectives:

  • Raising awareness of increased skills practices for staff
  • Consequences for restraint approaches for the RN’s and Code of Conduct
  • A special price if this course is taken with the morning course on “Falls Prevention”
