Aim
To equip learners to become fully competent in setting up a practical risk management system in the workplace, supervise its implementation, and evaluate work its effectiveness. Also, to attain a national award. The programme is designed primarily for learners working in care home and healthcare settings.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Evaluate the factors involved in the creation of a safe workplace environment
- Appraise current legislation in relation to the role and responsibilities of staff at all levels
- Evaluate the key characteristics of a safety statement
- Evaluate the key principles of risk management
- Assess the positive benefits of a workplace safety culture
- Design a hazard analysis sheet
- Evaluate the use of a range of risk controls
- Appraise the key principles of ergonomics
- Design an induction training programme in relation to safety awareness at work
- Devise and manage a safety training session
- Formulate a behavioural modification strategy in relation to workplace safety culture
- Carry out safety audits and inspections
- Set up an administrative system to record and monitor health and safety related issues in a workplace
- Complete a training needs analysis on a group of employees in relation to safety at work.
