This course will provide an understanding of best practice in medication management.
It will provide an understanding of the role of the nurse within the scope of practice and an Bord Altranais guidelines and provide an understanding of the cycle of medication management and the nurses role and responsibility within that cycle. It will provide awareness of safety in medication management.

On completion of the course the participants will:

Have an understanding their role and responsibilities in medication management.
Have an awareness of the relevant legislation regarding safe medication practices.
Will have an understanding of the key principles in the transcription, administration and documentation of medications and will discuss self administration and MDA/scheduled control drug safe practices.
Have gained an insight into medication errors and strategies to avoid these.
