Our One Day conference will get to the heart of the central themes that HIQA will be evaluating in 2015 with particular emphasis on the re-drafted HIQA National Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People in Ireland; this Conference will focus on the importance of Person-Centred approaches to Care for people living with Dementia
We are delighted to announce Professor Jan Dewing is confirmed as our Key Note Speaker for the day. Jan most recently worked in jointclinical chair position between East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust and The England Centre for Practice Development at Canterbury Christchurch University, Kent, England. She also holds several Visiting Professorships in Ulster, NSW Australia and at two research centres in Norway (Bergen and Stord Haugesund University Colleges).
Her learning and research programmes tend to focus on gerontological care, including Dementia care. Jan is especially interested in developing person-centred practice in health and social care through emancipatory practice development, facilitation and work based learning. She is a founding member of the International Practice Development Collaborative and a member of the Person-centred Practice Research International Community of Practice. Widely published, Jan is also the academic editor for the International Practice Development Journal.

We are also hosting two Master-Classes the morning after the Conference in Northridge House, our Education Centre at St Luke’s Home. These can be booked in conjunction with the Conference or independently. Professor Dewing will take one Master Class on Creative Approaches to Responding to Behaviours of Distress and Unmet Needs and Dr. Nicola Cornally Center for Rehabilitation & Gerontology, UCC will take the second on Advance Care Directives and End of Life Care Planning.
